Happy Valley got the season started on a winning note.

The Warriors picked up a 38-14 victory at Volunteer on Friday night on the legs of Will Tittle and Brayden Sams.

HV took advantage of great field position to open the game as Tittle ran into the end zone from seven yards out to take an early 6-0 advantage.

After the Warrior defense stymied the Falcon offense, Happy Valley saw Sams break free for a 33-yard touchdown to take a 14-0 lead midway through the first.

That score would hold until the eight-minute mark in the second as Sams scored to give HV a 20-0 advantage.

Volunteer, however, wouldn’t go quietly as they put two back-to-back scores on the board to cut the Warrior lead to 20-14 going to half.

Happy Valley left no doubt in the final quarter.

Tittle broke into the end zone on a short score to open the final quarter after a scoreless third quarter. Dakota Cochran added a touchdown run, while Sams and Tittle connected on a 41-yard touchdown pass to account for the final scoring.

Tittle finished with 103 yards. Sams added 99 yards to the HV cause.
