It was one of the biggest stages of the season. Coby Jones made sure the Bulldogs took advantage of it.
The senior quarterback accounted for over 400 offensive yards in the 41-23 victory over Gatlinburg-Pittman to earn the Climate Controllers’ Player of the Week award for Week 5. It is the second time this season that Jones has earned the honor.
Jones threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more to help pull away from the Highlanders to take control of their own destiny in the conference race.
The game was tied at 14-14 at the half until Jones and the Bulldogs took control.
The Hampton quarterback is the first two-time honoree this season. He joins teammate Jerry Lunsford, Unaka’s Micah Hunt and Cloudland’s Colby Birchfield as players selected.
Jones and company return to action on Friday night as they welcome Cloudland to J.C. Campbell Stadium.
