The final state rankings had a Carter County flair.
The Elizabethton girls and Hampton boys finished inside the final Tennessee Associated Press Basketball Top 10 poll that was released on Monday afternoon. The Lady Cyclones remained atop the Class AA poll, while the Bulldogs were ranked fifth in Class A.
Elizabethton claimed all nine first place votes to remain atop the Class AA poll. The defending state champion rolled in the semifinals of the District 1-AA tournament, and are slated to face Sullivan East in the championship game. That game, which was originally scheduled for Monday night, is now slated for Tuesday night.
The Bulldogs also held firm in the fifth spot. Hampton cruised past North Greene in the District 1-A semifinals, and will square off against South Greene on Tuesday for the district title. Region mate Coby finished the poll in third.
