Lady Cyclones, Cyclones move to 4-0 in conference

It was a sweet trip to Mountain City for the Elizabethton basketball teams on Tuesday night. The Lady Cyclones exerted their dominance as they cruised to an 83-25 victory over the Longhorns, while the Cyclones picked up a 58-42 win. Both teams improve to 4-0 in conference play.

In the varsity nightcap, the Cyclones edged ahead 11-8 after a quarter of play, but the Longhorns wouldn’t go away. Elizabethton maintained a 26-20 advantage at the half, and extended the lead to 41-32 entering the fourth quarter. From there, the Cyclones secured the win by outscoring Johnson County 18-10 in the final stanza.

Tyler Nichols led the way with 24 points while Hunter Greene had nine points. Bo Pless and Austin Cornett had eight points apiece.

In the girls’ game, Elizabethton jumped out to a 20-0 lead and never looked back as they raced to the victory.

Kayla Marosites finished with 15 points, while Emily Kiser tossed in 13 points. Kelci Marosites and Megan Pietrowski had 12 and 11 points, respectively. Emily Schubert rounded out the Elizabethton scores in double-digits with 10 points.
