Ir certainly wasn’t pretty, but the Lady Cyclones got the job done.

Elizabethton used a strong first quarter to propel them to a 47-29 nonconference victory over Hampton on Tuesday night in Hampton.

The Elizabethton defense set the tone early as they held Hampton scoreless for nearly the first six minutes of the game. That allowed the Cyclones to take a 16-4 advantage after a quarter of play behind two 3-pointers from Kayla Marosites. Alexis Grubb scored six points in the second quarter for the Lady Bulldogs as they tightened the gap early, but Elizabethton maintained a 27-14 halftime lead over Hampton.

Marosites sparked the Lady Cyclones again in the third period with five points. That allowed Elizabethton to take a 36-19 lead into the final period.

In the fourth quarter, Elizabethton quickly saw the lead flirt with the 20-point as Kelci Marosites added seven points. With just over two minutes to play, Elizabethton Head Coach Len Dugger was ejected after two questionable technicals in a short sequence of events.

Ka. Marosites led the way for Elizabethton with 15 points, while Ke. Marosites added 14 points. Melinda Perry tossed in nine points for the Lady Cylcone cause.

Grubbs led the Lady Bulldogs with 16 points, while Tatum Street had four points.
