Lady Cyclones fall on walkoff at Science Hill

The Lady Cyclones found themselves on the wrong side of a walkoff on Monday.

Science Hill countered two EHS runs in the top of the seventh to take a 5-4 victory over the Lady Cyclones in nonconference action.


EHS took a 1-0 lead in the opening frame as the speedy Macie Herrman scored off a grounder to first base. The Lady Cyclones pushed the advantage to 2-0 as Lauren Brickey pushed Herrman across home plate, but Science Hill evened things up in the home side of the third with a two-run homerun.

Neither team was able to get back on the board until the seventh. In the top side of in the inning, EHS took a 4-2 lead when Kaylin Shell hit a two-out double to score Haley Fair and Kara Dillard.

Science Hill, however, also found the offense as they plated three runs with just one out to take the win.

Brickey and Dillard were 2-for-3 for the Lady Cyclones, while Maci West, Shell, Fair, and Maggie Johnson each added a hit.

Kellie Cunningham was handed the loss in the pitching circle despite a strong performance as she struck out eight Lady Hilltoppers.
