The Elizabethton girls basketball team got back into the win column on Saturday night.

The Lady Cyclones took a 58-53 win over David Crockett on Saturday to give interim head coach Lucas Andrews his first win less than a week after taking control of the program.

In the boys’ game, Elizabethton was unable to keep pace with the Pioneers in the second half in a 62-47 loss.

The Lady Cyclones set the tone early. With four points from Morgan Headrick and Camryn Koroma in the first quarter, Elizabethton took a 17-10 advantage after a quarter of place. The Lady Pioneers, however, repaid the favor to tie the game at 27-27 at the break.

After EHS edged ahead going to the fourth quarter, Kaylen Shell put 10 points on the board to help the Lady Cyclones hold onto the win.
Koroma tallied 12 points, while Kaitlyn Light and Headrick had 10 points apiece.

In the boys’ game, Elizabethton kept pace with the Pioneers as EHS trailed 27-20 at the break. David Crockett, however, went on a run late in the third quarter to increase the lead to double-digits going to the final quarter.

Adam Cornett had 13 points to lead Elizabethton. Eric Wilson and Nico Ashley and nine and seven points apiece. Will Miller tallied six points.
