It was a split night in Johnson City.
The Lady Cyclones rolled to an 89-41 victory over Science Hill, but the Cyclones were unable to keep pace late in a 59-45 loss.
After holding a 16-10 lead at the end of the first quarter, Elizabethton doubled up the Lady Hilltoppers 24-12 in the second quarter to take a 40-22 advantage. Any thought of a Science Hill rally was erased as the Lady Cyclones outscored SH 31-11 in the third quarter.
Kelci Marosites recorded a game-high 25 points, while Kayla Marosites recorded 24 points. Emily Schubert finished with 20 points. Emily Kiser recorded 14 points.
In the boys’ game, Elizabethton held the upper hand in the early going with a 12-8 advantage. The teams traded points in the second quarter with the Cyclones holding a slim 22-20 advantage at the break.
In the second half, the Hilltoppers started to take control. Science Hill edged ahead during the third quarter, and secured the game by outscoring the Cyclones 25-12 in the final period.
Michael Robinson tallied 13 points to lead the Elizabethton effort, while Bo Pless scored 10 points. Mushayamunda added seven points for the Cyclones.
