Elizabethton made quite the home debut on Friday night.

The Lady Cyclones stayed perfect in conference play as they cruised to a 98-26 victory over Johnson County on Friday night, while the Cyclones held on to a 60-50 win over the Longhorns in Elizabethton’s home opener.

In the girls’ game, the Lady Cyclones left no doubt.

Kayla Marosites and Melenda Perry gave Elizabethton a quick 5-0 lead, and Kelci Marosites and Emily Kiser pushed the lead to 11-2. The points kept coming for Elizabethton as they maintained a 32-5 advantage at the end of the first quarter, and led 44-14 at the half.

From there, Elizabethton continued to slowly add to the advantage.

Ka. Marosites led all scorers with 26 points, while Ke. Maronites tallied 20 points. Emily Schubert tallied 10 points. Brittany Campbell had 13 points in the game.

The win moves Elizabethton to 3-0 on the season and 2-0 in TRC action.

In the boys’ game, the Cyclones used a strong defensive effort to take the victory.

After Elizabethton held a 14-9 lead at the end of the first quarter with seven points from Bo Pless, the Cyclones pushed the lead to seven points during the second quarter before taking a 32-29 advantage into the locker room at the half.

Bud Icenhour tied the game for the Longhorns to open the second half, but Tre McCrary and Alex Norwood knocked down shots for Elizabethton. That set the stage for the Cyclones to take a 10-point lead into the final quarter. The Longhorns trimmed the lead to seven, but that was as close as they could get.

Michael Robinson led the Elizabethton scorers with 16 points, while Pless tallied 15 points. McCrary had eight points.
