The Lady Cyclones secured a substate berth in a big way.

Elizabethton scored early and often as they picked up a 10-0 win over Greeneville in the Region 1-AA semifinals on Monday afternoon. The win moved the Lady Cyclones into Wednesday’s title game at Unicoi County, as well as secured them a spot in Friday’s substate.

After a scoreless first inning, EHS struck when Maci West drove in Abbi McKinney with a triple to centerfield. Allison Riddle’s sacrifice hit pushed West across home plate to give EHS a 2-0 lead after two innings of play.

The top of the third saw Lauren Brickey pushed Kennedy Richardson to score with a double, and EHS added a run in the top of the fourth to increase the lead. From there, it was all Lady Cyclones as EHS secured the win with five runs in the sixth and seventh combined.

Riddle went 2-for-3 at the plate, while Katelyn Loudy went 1-for-1. Jordan Grindstaff, West, McKinney and Brickey all went 2-for-4.

In the circle, Kelli Cunningham picked up the win with a complete game effort. She recorded eight strikeouts in the game.
