It’s only fitting Mother Nature decided to cause a ruckus on Thursday.

Due to hazardous road conditions around the Murfreesboro area, the TSSAA has postponed all quarterfinals scheduled for Thursday including Elizabethton’s tournament opener against Westview.

“There is no way that we are willing to put any student-athlete’s life in jeopardy in order to try to play a basketball game,” stated Bernard Childress, Executive Director of TSSAA in a Thursday morning statement.  “To us, the safety of the student-athletes, coaches, fans, and anyone attending or participating in the state basketball tournament is first and foremost.”

The Lady Cyclones will now open the tournament on Friday at 5:15 CT. The winner will advance to Saturday’s semifinals that are set with a 9:00pm CT tip. Times for Sunday’s championships games have not been set.
