The Cloudland girls’ basketball team took care of business on Friday afternoon.

The Lady ‘Landers cruised to a 51-30 victory over Sullivan North in the opening round of the District 1-A tournament at Daniel Boone High School in Gray. With the win, CHS secured a berth in the Region 1-A tournament.

Cloudland will take on top-seed North Greene in semifinals on Saturday at 4 p.m.
It took the Lady ‘Landers a quarter to get things going on Friday. In the first quarter, Trinity Vines scored five points as CHS held a 7-2 lead after the first eight minutes.

Cloudland’s offense came alive in the second quarter. CHS erupted for 28 points sparked by nine points from Heaven Caraway and six points from Jasmine Birchfield.

That gave CHS a 35-8 lead going to the half.

It was much the same for the Lady ‘Landers in the second half. With several younger kids on the court, Cloudland continued to take care of business.

Vines and Caraway finished with nine points apiece to pace CHS. Stacia Wilson had eight points, while Kenzie Birchfield and Jasmine Birchfield had six points apiece.

Gracie Freeman and Abbey Gouge had four points each.
