The Lady ‘Landers wanted to keep the District 1-A upsets coming on Saturday. However, the top-seeded Lady Rebels had an other idea.

Cloudland was unable to keep pace with South Greene in a 67-31 loss in the District 1-A semifinals – a day after the two No. 3 seeds were booted from the tournament.

The Lady ‘Landers will play in Monday’s consolation game against University High. That game is set to be played at 6:00.

Shian Strickland pushed Cloudland to a 5-2 lead in the game’s first two minutes. However, Miss Basketball finalist Taylor Lamb snapped the run with back-to-baskets. That set the stage for a 22-2 Lady Rebel run with Payton Johnson claiming the only Cloudland points during the run. SG held a 24-7 advantage at the end of the first quarter.

Strickland opened the second with a bucket, but the Lady Rebels continued to go on a torrid run. Lisa Ellis and Erin Julian added points for Cloudland. Johanna Johnson capped the CHS scoring with an and one. However, South Greene held a 49-17 lead at the half.

Trinity Vines and Ellis recorded points in the third quarter, while P. Johnson and J. Johnson had big shots in the final quarter.

Strickland and Ellis led CHS with seven points apiece. P. Johnson scored six points in the game, while J Johnson added five points.

Braelyn Wykle had a game-high 17 points for the Lady Rebels.
