Unaka scored early and often on Friday night.

The Lady Rangers opened up to a 15-1 lead and never looked back en route to a 67-22 victory over Washburn in the Region 1-A quarterfinals on Stoney Creek.

With the win, Unaka advances to the semifinals where they will take on Cosby on Monday at 7:30 at Cocke County High School.

On Friday night, the Lady Rangers left no doubt.

Savannah Tipton and Myah Parlier scored early points to give Unaka a 6-0 lead in the opening minutes, and Erika Potter along with Lexi Garland pushed the lead to double-digits.

Unaka slowly added to the lead – while allowing just one Washburn field goal in the first quarter. Tipton knocked down a buzzer-beating shot from near half court to send Unaka into the second quarter with a 27-6 advantage.

The second quarter saw UHS go on an 18-0 run over the first six and a half minutes as Parlier, Potter, Garland, and Tipton all recorded points. Unaka held a 49-10 lead after two complete quarters.
The Lady Rangers continued to stay in control in the second half as several younger players were able to get playing time.

Parlier had a big night as she tallied 27 points. Potter finished with 12 points. Garland and Tipton had eight and seven points, respectively.
