Lady Warriors drop heartbreaker; Lady Cyclones fall at East

Sullivan Central 54, Happy Valley 52
Happy Valley fell victim to a buzzer beater on Tuesday night in a heartbreaking 54-52 loss to Sullivan Central on Warrior Hill.

The Lady Warriors found themselves in an early hole as the Lady Cougars doubled them up 16-8 in the opening quarter. Adrienne Henegar, however, found her hot hand shooting as she scored 11 points in the second quarter as HV closed their deficit to 27-24 at the half.

After the teams played to a 36-36 draw after three-quarters of play, the teams swapped the lead in the final minutes. Happy Valley took a 52-51 advantage in the closing seconds.

Sullivan Central, however, took the win on inbounds with 1.9 seconds remaining on a contested 3-point shot.

Henegar had 17 points to lead the Lady Warriors, while Kaitlyn Roberts had 12 points. Tiana Long tallied 11 points. Haley Green added nine points to the Lady Warriors cause.



Sullivan East 60, Elizabethton 40
The Lady Cyclones were unable to shake off a cold second quarter on the road at Sullivan East in a 60-40 loss to the Lady Patriots.

Elizabethton led 10-8 after the first quarter in part to four points apiece from Abbey Townsend and Autumn Little. The Lady Cyclones, however, were limited to just two points in the second quarter as Sullivan East went on a 16-2 run in the frame.

EHS continued to fight in the second half but was unable to dig into the deficit.

Townsend finished with 10 points, while Kaylen Shell and Little had nine points apiece. Camryn Koroma had eight points.
