The Happy Valley girls’ basketball team came up just short on Thursday night.

The Lady Warriors dropped a tough 67-63 decision to Johnson County in overtime on Warrior Hill despite a 30-point performance from Adrienne Henegar. In the boys’ game, Happy Valley fell 67-63.

The girls’ game saw neither team able to get real separation. After HV opened to a 14-10 lead, Johnson County outscored HV 19-7 in the second quarter to take a 29-21 advantage into the locker room at the half.

The Lady Warriors, however, answered the bell in the second half to slowly battle back. Happy Valley took a late lead, but was unable to convert late free throws. Johnson County forced the extra period where they outscored HV 11-7 for the win.

In addition to Hennegar’s 30 points, Haley Green recorded 14 points. Tiana Long tallied nine points, while Kate Roberts had seven points. Olivia Absher rounded out the scoring with three points.

Johnson County saw six players reach double-digits.

In the boys’ game, Happy Valley was unable to keep pace with the Longhorns high-powered offense.

Johnson County jumped out to a 19-8 lead, and never let up the rest of the way.

Bryce Carter tallied 10 points to lead HV, while Jake Surcey had seven points.
