‘Landers clinch region crown with win at Hancock

Cloudland checked off a preseason goal on Friday night.

The ‘Landers clinched the Region 1-A title with a 40-8 victory over Hancock County in Sneedville. With the win, Cloudland finished region play with a perfect 4-0 mark for their second consecutive region title.


It was all CHS as the ‘Landers left no doubt.

Senior Noah Arnett opened the scoring with two touchdowns in the first quarter as the ‘Landers took a 16-0 lead into the second quarter. Josh Blair got into the end zone for Cloudland midway through the second with a TD run.

CHS increased the lead to 28-0 with just over three minutes left in the second quarter with a Preston Benfield touchdown. Benfield hit Brinkley Mull for a 19-yard touchdown to give Cloudland a 34-0 lead at the half.

Josh Blair scored the lone Cloudland touchdown in the second half.

Arnett finished with 194 yards on 12 carries, while Blair tallied 107 yards on 11 carries. Benfield was 4-of-7 passing for 59 yards, while adding 21 yards on the ground.

Senior James Arwood tallied 15 tackles, while Dillion Jonson and Dakota Johnson had 12 and 8 tackles, respectively.
