Cloudland broke into the win column in a big way on Friday night.
The ‘Landers scored early and often in the first half to steamroll North Greene in a 50-6 victory in Baileyton.

Cloudland improves to 1-1 on the season.

CHS took control early and never looked back.

Jordan Coffey punched in a run from five yards out to cap the opening drive, and Connor Birchfield added the two-point conversion as CHS jumped out to an 8-0 lead a minute and a half into the game. After the ‘Lander defense held NG to a three-and-out on negative yardage, Coffey scored his second touchdown from four yards out. The Birchfield conversion used the advantage to 16-0.

Malachi Benfield hit Dillon Johnson for a 17-yard touchdown pass and Birchfield added a 64-yard punt return for a score to give CHS a 28-0 lead going to the second quarter.

The second quarter started much like the first as Coffey raced 45 yards for the touchdown, and Josh Blair added the conversion. Benfield and Blair each added a rushing touchdown to give CHS a 50-0 lead at the half.

In the second half, North Greene broke onto the board late in the third quarter. Cloudland, however, continued to control the game with their younger players getting valuable snaps.

Coffey finished with 77 yards on six carries, while Benfield was 5-of-8 passing for 90 yards and added 33 yards on the ground.

Triston Lacy had two catches for 38 yards.

Cloudland will have their bye week in Week 3 before traveling to Avery County (N.C.) in Week 4.
