District 1-A Baseball
Unaka 7, South Greene 6
With their backs against the wall, the Rangers had an answer. Unaka scored three runs in the sixth to eek ahead and advance to the Championship game as well as clinched a regional berth.
John Wesley Hardin picked up the win in two innings of relief, while Austin Wilson went 3-for-4 at the plate. Austin King had 2 RBIs to go with a 2-for-2 performance to help power the Rangers to the win.
District 1-AA Softball
Unicoi County 7, Elizabethton 2
The Lady Cyclones were unable to answer a late rally by the Lady Blue Devils. After taking an early 2-0 lead, Elizabethton saw Unicoi score seven unanswered runs to take the win.
Abbi McKinney was 2-for-3 with a RBI for Elizabethton. Lauren Brickey, Macie Hermann, Kennedy Richardson and Alison Riddle all went 1-for-3. In the circle, Kelli Cunningham recorded nine strikeouts.
Happy Valley 2, Johnson County 0
The Lady Warriors shut out the Lady Longhorns for the second consecutive time to keep their season alive. Kalee Johnson limited JC to just four hits and recorded eight strikeouts in the game.
Olivia Kelly had the golden bat as she recorded both RBIs for the Lady Warriors
District 1-AA Baseball
Unicoi County 4, Happy Valley 3
The Warriors were unable to answer a fifth-inning run as their season came to a close in heartbreaking fashion. HV jumped out to take a 3-2 lead in the top of fourth, but the Blue Devils tied things up in the home side of the frame. Unicoi took the lead for good in the fifth on a double-steal play.
Ian Scruggs and Timmy Masters recorded RBIs in the game for HV.
District 1-A Softball
Unaka 3, North Greene 2
The Lady Rangers kept their season alive in the final inning. Unaka scored in the away side of the seventh inning to break a 2-2 stalemate and take the win over North Greene.
The winning run came when Sarah Tipton scored off a Sydney Markland single, and then the Lady Rangers defense stymied the North Greene bats to secure the win.
