After a busy Monday for our basketball teams, Tuesday is going to be even busier.

Yesterday, we saw mixed results across the board. In the Johnson City Honda Invitational, Hampton girls picked up a 56-53 win over Sequoyah, while Cloudland was upended 58-30 by Dobyns-Bennett. The Cloudland boys also were unable to advance to the championship round of the People’s Bank Classic at Sullivan North as they fell 51-27 to Cherokee.

At the Harriman Christmas Classic, Hampton boys pulled away to take an 84-66 victory over the host Blue Devils, while Unaka fell 53-39 to Rockwood. Perhaps the most impressive win of the day, however, was Elizabethton’s 58-38 win over North Forsyth (Ga.) in the Carolina Invitational in Charleston. The win kept the Lady Cyclones perfect on the year.

In the Cumberland Falls Invitational, the Cyclones fell 68-63 to Laurens (S.C.).

Whew, that is a mouthful. Well today’s schedule is even more hectic.

Starting in Charleston, Elizabethton will look to claim a tournament title as they take on Hoover (Ala.) in the Palmetto division of the Carolina Invitational. The Bucs are 13-3 on the year.

In Harriman, the Unaka boys open the day against Harriman at 10 a.m., while the Bulldogs will take on Tellico Plains at 2:30. Cloudland will square off against Hixson in the New People’s Bank Classic at Sullivan North at 6p.

Meanwhile in Gray, Unaka’s ladies will open the day off at 1:30p against Cherokee, while the Lady Bulldogs will take on Morristown East at 4:30p. Cloudland will square off against Unicoi County at 5p with third place on the line.

In addition to all the local action, the Elizabethton boys will be in action in the Cumberland Falls Invitational in Corbin, Ky.

It is going to be a busy day for the Carter County Sports staff, so be sure to follow us on Twitter (@CarterCoSports) as well as on Facebook to keep up with all the action.

Until next time, have a great day!
