Good frosty morning!
Hope you are staying warm on this frigid morning. Yesterday, we got the news that Larry Shivley had resigned as head coach of Happy Valley. While the results weren’t what Shivley and the program wanted, you have to admire the way that Shivley handled himself at the helm on Warrior Hill.
As a staff, each one of us noted yesterday that Larry was one of the good guys and a great guy to work with. We took notice of the fight the Warriors had all season, especially after a opening stretch that would make most teams cringe. There is no doubt that Shivley instilled that in his team. We want to be sure to thank Larry for his help and we wish him well in the future!
On Tuesday night, it was a sweeping kind of night for Cloudland and Elizabethton. For the ‘Landers and the Lady ‘Landers, protecting their home court was huge in the Watauga Valley Conference race as well as a confidence boost for two squads that opened conference play with trips to Greene County. It is often said, especially in the WVC, that the number one team will protect the home court and steal a win on the road. That said, both Cloudland teams have a lot of work to do this season, but Tuesday night was a start in the right direction both in the season aspect as well as that all important confidence aspect.
The Cyclones and Lady Cyclones also picked up strong statement wins in their trip to Mountain City. The Elizabethton ladies found a groove in Charleston and haven’t looked back, while the boys are improving every game. In the Three Rivers Conference, both squads are 4-0. Right now, the Cyclones and Lady Cyclones are not teams you want to see on your schedule as we head to Febuary.
Until next time, have a great day!
