It was dress rehearsal for three Carter County teams on Friday night.

Cloudland, Hampton and Unaka participated in the annual Carter County Jamboree on Stoney Creek in front of an outstanding crowd at Goddard Field.

Hampton won their two quarters, 12-0 over Cloudland and 18-0 over Unaka, while the ‘Landers outscored the Rangers 18-0 in the first quarter.

Prior to the game action, the Bulldogs saw Dakota Sanchez win the longest kick and longest punt, and Jason Russell won the longest pass. Ray Combs of Unaka was the fastest lineman. Hunter Davenport picked up the win in the fastest running back competition for Hampton.

The game’s first quarter saw Noah Arnett score on a speedy 53-yard run on Cloudland’s first possession. The Rangers saw Hunter Rice try to get the ground game going before CHS stalled. Sophomore Josh Blair added a three-yard score and Preston Benfield threw a 54-yard pass to Jordan Coffey to count for the final two scores in the frame.

The second quarter saw Adam McClain record three touchdowns against the Rangers. The Bulldogs defense led by Gavin Hardin’s fumble recovery set a strong tone early.

Hampton picked up their second quarter win as Seth Anderson and McClain scored on runs for HHS. Defensively, Jason Russell and Hunter Davenport recorded interceptions in the 15-minute quarter.

All three teams open the 2016 season next week. (Postgame audio below photo gallery)
