Unaka welcomed Cloudland to Stoney Creek on Tuesday night for a county clash, and each school picked up a District 1-A win.

The Lady Rangers picked up a 63-45 victory over the Lady ‘Landers while the ‘Landers held on for a 69-63 road victory.


In the girls’ game, Unaka took control early.

The Lady Rangers slowly pulled away for a double-digit lead as UHS took a 20-10 advantage into the second quarter. The Cloudland offense made a quick run, but Unaka recovered during the quarter. UHS led 45-24 at the half.

Cloudland continued to battle as they closed the gap to 13 points in the third quarter. However, Unaka wasn’t going to be denied an import District 1-A win.

Myah Parlier led the Lady Rangers with 16 points and Savannah Tipton had 13 points. Lexi Garland tallied 10 points. Sarah Tipton and Sydney Markland had nine points each.

Trinity Vines had 18 points to lead Cloudland. Stacia Wilson had seven points.

In the boys’ game, Cloudland had to battle back from an early hole. Isaac Hill and the Rangers jumped out to an early lead.

Robert Leeper, however, sparked the ‘Landers to take a double-digit lead right before half.

The second half saw neither team able to take full control.
