Elizabethton softball made program history on Tuesday night but had to go extra innings to get the job done.

The Lady Cyclones exploded for 11 runs in the eighth inning in 15-4 extra innings victory over an upset-minded Happy Valley squad on Tuesday evening on Warrior Hill.

With the win, Elizabethton wrapped up the first perfect conference slate in program history with a 12-0 record.

In the early going, the Warriors looked to spoil the achievement.

Callie Davis hit a single in the bottom of the second to plate a run and Olivia Absher pushed two more runs across to give HV a 3-0 advantage going to the third.

Elizabethton’s Macie Herrmann got a run back with a solo home run to left field in the top of the third. Lauren Brickey scored off a Kira Dillard walk as EHS closed within a run going to the bottom of the inning. Happy Valley struck again with a leadoff home run from Kadie Havner to extend the lead to 4-2.

After the Lady Cyclones plated a run off a Brickey single, neither team was able to add a run until Bailey Creasy plated a run by Maci West.

That tied things up at 4-4 and forced an extra inning.

In the visiting side of the eighth, the Lady Cyclone bats came alive. Elizabethton scored 11 runs including a West home run to take control of the game. HV was unable to answer in the bottom of the inning to answer.

West led the way for EHS at the plate as the senior went 5-for-6 with two RBI, while Brickey and Creasy had three hits apiece. In all, Elizabethton had 20 hits in the game.

Absher was 2-for-4 to lead the Lady Warriors.

In the pitching circle, Brickey pitched up the win as she allowed just two hits. Kellie Cunningham got the starting nod and allowed one earned run on four hits as she recorded a no-decision.

Holt was handed the loss for Happy Valley.
