On Tuesday, the TSSAA gave a glimpse at what the new football classifications could look like next season as they released the enrollment numbers that will be used in the new classification.
Starting next season, the top 32 schools in enrollment will play in 6A, while Classes 1-5 will go to the former region format.
Elizabethton will be the lone Carter County school in 3A along with Johnson County, Unicoi County Chuckey-Doak, West Greene and Claiborne, while Happy Valley and Hampton will be in Class 2A alongside Cosby, North Greene, South Greene, Sullivan North and Cumberland Gap.
In Class A, Cloudland and Unaka will be in a region together along with Hancock County. The other teams in Class A could be a mix of Knoxville schools depending on how the TSSAA decides.
The final classifications will be decided at the November Board of Control meeting.
