For the first time in two years, the weather at the prestigious East Tennessee Amateur was nearly perfect.  Unfortunately for the field, Caymen Ratliff was almost as flawless as the weather.
The Sullivan South graduate fired a pair of 66’s that sandwiched a 68 to take a 10 stroke victory over Chip Spratlin and Dakota Norton in the tournament held at the Elizabethton Golf Course. Ratliff is an incoming freshman for Fred Warren’s ETSU golf program.
Spratlin and Norton fired identical 71’s in the opening round, but Spratlin fired a 65 to take a five stroke lead. However, Norton used a final round 69 to tie for second.
Milligan College golfer Mitchell Sutton finished a stroke off second place to finish in fourth. Sutton recorded a hole-in-one in the tournament.
Hampton’s Michaela Matheson, who will join the Milligan golf program in the fall, made tournament history as she became the first woman in ETA history to win the match play event.
Ronnie Breeden (50-54), Dwight Scott (55-59) and Bob Ross (60-over) won their respective age groups.
