Carter County athletes shined in Thursday’s Spring Fling Action on both the track and field as well as the tennis courts.


Track and Field State Championships
Happy Valley’s Brianna Buck captured a third-place finish in the high jump. The senior recorded a mark of 4-10 in a competitive field.

A pair of Lady Cyclones made their mark in the discus throw. Emily Schubert recorded a fourth-place throw in the event with a mark of 114-6. Camryn Koroma narrowly missed the top five with a sixth-place finish in the event.

Heather Fechtenberger recorded a third-place finish in the 800-meter run. The Elizabethton senior recorded a time of 2:20. Elizabethton’s Autumn Thomas finished the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.79 to finish in seventh.

Tennis
Elizabethton’s Danielle Vines advanced to the singles state championship with a pair of convincing wins. The Lady Cyclone senior will take on Lindy Tatum of Trinity Christian on Friday morning as she goes for her third straight championship.
