The stage is set for a thrilling District 1-AA baseball tournament.
The action started with Happy Valley’s walkoff play-in game win to keep their season alive on Thursday and the tournament moves to a double-elimination format at Cardinal Park in Johnson City.
On Friday, the opening game will have a Carter County flair as No. 3 Elizabethton takes on No. 6 Happy Valley at 5 p.m. The nightcap will see No. 4 Sullivan South take on No. 5 Sullivan Central.
Saturday features a full slate of games. At noon, the winner of the HV/EHS game will take on No. 2 Sullivan East, while the South/Central winner will take on top-seed Unicoi County at 2:30 p.m. The losers of Friday’s games will square off in an elimination game at 5:00 p.m.
On Sunday, the winner of Saturday’s elimination game will take on the lowest seed loser of Saturday’s first two games. That first pitch is set for 1 p.m.
The winner’s bracket final is set for Monday at 5 p.m., while an elimination game is set to be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday will see the loser’s bracket final at 5:30 p.m. followed by the first game of the Championship series at 7:30 p.m.
The If-Necessary game is set for Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
The top two teams will advance to the Region 1-AA tournament.
