Three County teams remain in AP poll

Two Carter County teams held firm in the Associated Press Prep Football poll for Tennessee, while another remained in the top 10.

In Class 3A, Elizabethton remained ranked No. 4 for the second consecutive week. The Cyclones, who dispatched Claiborne on Friday night, tallied 95 points – 22 points behind No. 3 CAK.


Alcoa was once again the unanimous No. 1 with all 15 first-place votes. Sequatchie County held down the No. 2 spot as the top five held steady.

In Class 2A, Happy Valley jumped into a tie for No. 4 after being ranked No. 6. The Warriors rolled past North Greene, and tallied 97 points in this week’s poll – a tie with Austin East.

Hampton tallied 32 points to remain ranked in the No. 10 spot. The Bulldogs used a strong second half to pull away from Sullivan North.

Adamsville remained ranked in the No. 1 spot with Marion County and Forrest rounding out the top three.
