The TSSAA has handed down actions to the Unaka athletic department.
In a letter to Unaka Principal Betsy Oliver, TSSAA Executive Director Bernard Childress informed the school that the TSSAA Board had imposed a postseason ban on the Unaka boys’ basketball program during the 2016-17 season.
The move comes after the football team elected not to participate in the playoffs after being placed in the bracket. The Rangers forfeited their first-round game at Greenback.
Unaka is appealing the decision, and the appeal will be heard at the Board of Control meeting on Thursday, November 17.
