It was twice as nice for Kayla Marosites on Tuesday evening.

The Elizabethton senior was named Miss Basketball for Class AA for the second consecutive year inside the Murphy Center on Tuesday. Marosites edged out finalists Akira Levy of Upperman and Jacobi Lynn of McMinn Central.

The East Tennessee State signee surpassed the 2,000-point for her career this season to become the program’s all-time leading scoring, while averaging 24.2 points per game. In addition, Marosites has averaged just over 10 rebounds per game along with 3.4 assists per game.

Marosites has been selected to the Class AA All-Tournament team every year since her freshman season – and was the tournament MVP her sophomore season. She was the District 1-A MVP this season.

While last year was special, this season was just as special for Marosites as her team was in attendance during the Miss Basketball ceremony.
