Unaka had an upset in mind on Saturday afternoon. However, South Greene had another idea.

The Lady Rangers were unable to overcome an early onslaught as the defending state champion Lady Rebels took a 71-38 District 1-A semifinal victory at Daniel Boone High School.

Unaka will take on the loser of the Hampton/Cloudland game in Monday’s consolation game.

South Greene came out of the gates firing. The Lady Rebels jumped out to an 8-0 lead before Savannah Tipton drained a 3-pointer from the corner to get UHS on the board.

Tipton along with Sarah Tipton hit shots to temper the SG run, but Kinsley Wykle kicked off a 9-0 Lady Rebel run as South Greene took a 31-11 lead into the second quarter.

Madison Ensor and Myain Parlier help Unaka start the second quickly, but was unable to trim the SG lead.

The second half saw Unaka continue to fight but was unable to weather the Lady Rebel attack.

Parlier and Sav. Tipton had eight points apiece to lead Unaka.

Taylor Lamb had a game-high 20 points while Wykle had 13 points.
