Happy Valley fell 62-58 to Hoanker in the opening round of the Bearcat Invitational on Wednesday evening.
Austin Hicks scored four early points for the Warriors to open the game, but Happy Valley was in an early hole as they trailed 14-6 at the end of the frame. The second quarter saw the Warriors hold steady as Sam Blevins made his presence felt with five points in the period. HV trailed 28-20 at the half.
Happy Valley started to trim into the lead in the third quarter, but Hoanker iced the game at the free throw line in the closing minutes.
Hicks led the way with 14 points, while Chris Young had 13 points. Blevins finished with 11 points. Braden Sams had seven points, and Nathan Kyte had six points.
