Happy Valley picked up a thrilling win on Tuesday night.
The Warriors held on for a 73-68 overtime win at Johnson County. In the girls’ contest, the Lady Warriors rolled to a 74-45 victory.
In the boys’ game, Austin Hicks was the spark HV needed.
Hicks tallied 30 points to power the Warriors to a crucial Three Rivers win. HV held a 30-27 lead at the half.
The Longhorns made a late run in the closing minutes of the game and forced overtime with a buzzer beater 3-pointer. Hicks and the Warriors, however, outscored Johnson County 10-5 in the extra time to take the win.
Brayden Sams added 12 points for HV.
For the Lady Warriors, a strong third quarter was what the doctor ordered. Happy Valley, who maintained a 37-28 lead at the half, outscored the Lady Longhorns 20-11 in the third period.
Kaitlyn Roberts had 19 points to lead HV. Emily Whitaker and Shalyn Whitson tallied 12 points apiece. Makayla Frazier had 12 points for the Lady Warriors.
