Chuckey-Doak used first half defense for an all-around win Friday night on Warrior Hill.

The Black Knights held at 27-17 heading into intermission and carried the fight into the second half to score a 65-52 win over Happy Valley in a Region 1-2 battle in Carter County.
Head coach Sam Broyles and Co. carried over the momentum from their second place finish in the New People’s Bank Classic last week with five Black Knights reaching double-figure scoring.
Happy Valley nearly tripled their score in the second half with four players of their own topping out in double figures – led by 13 points form guard Nathan Kyte. Tyler Torbett tacked on 11 with Corey Matherly and Austin Hicks each dropping 10.
Chase Young added a 3-pointer for HV while Dillon Barlow, Sam Blevins and Josh Hammonds rounded out the scoring in the loss.
Josh Krag and Seth Riddle led C-D with 13 points each.
The Warriors would take the junior varsity action 54-44 with Brayden Sams and Barlow going into double figures for HV.
The Warriors will be back in action Tuesday with a Three Rivers Conference tilt against Sullivan East. Girls varsity action starts at 6:30 p.m. with boys’ tip-off to follow.
