Unicoi County 5, Elizabethton 1 (baseball)
The Cyclones were unable to edge ahead in a pitching duel on Wednesday night.

Elizabethton answered a first-inning Unicoi run with one of their own as Ryan Wetzel scored on a sacrifice fly from Evan Carter. After a scoreless second inning, the Blue Devils took a 2-1 lead in the top of the third. That started a string of four innings where the Blue Devils scored one run to take a 5-1 advantage going into the bottom of the sixth.

EHS continued to fight by getting runners on board, but they were unable to convert them into runs.

Evan Perkins and Wetzel each recorded a hit for EHS.

On the mound, Evan Carter was handed the loss despite striking out 11 batters in five innings of work and just one earned run.

For the Blue Devils, Clay Simpson earned the win with a complete game effort as he recorded 12 strikeouts.

Sullivan East 13, Happy Valley 5 (Baseball)
The Warriors had another upset on the mind, but the Patriots weren’t about to fall victim again.

Happy Valley found themselves in an early hole as Sullivan East plated 10 runs over the first three innings. HV got on the board in the bottom of the fourth as Hayden Holtsclaw scored Jacob Absher and Will Hampton pushed Eli Fleenor across homeplate.

The Warriors added two more runs as Luke Naylor and Nolan Easlic touched home plate in the fifth, but HV trailed 13-4 going to the sixth. In the seventh, Landon Morefield hit a leadoff homerun to cap the scoring for the Warriors.

Easlic was 3-for-4 as the plate, while Travis Whitson, Holtsclaw, Fleenor, Morefield and Hampton each added a hit. On the mound, Kevin Whitaker was handed the loss.
