Hampton was unable to land a knockout punch on Friday night.

The Bulldogs came up short in a 46-30 decision to Cosby at J.C. Campbell Stadium on Homecoming night.

The Bulldogs opened the scoring with a strong drive that was capped by a two-yard run by Eli Tester. Kaden Jones added the two-point conversion.

Cosby, however, answered on the next play from scrimmage as David Baker broke free and scored on a 57-yard run as the first quarter ended in a 7-7 stalemate.

The Bulldogs regained the lead in the second quarter as Jones scored on a two-yard run after the HHS defense recovered a fumble. Cosby answered with a one-play touchdown drive as Baker scored on a 58-yard run, and took a 24-14 lead into the half as Spencer Moore found David Moore for a touchdown in the closing seconds of the half to cap a 96-yard drive.

After the Eagles opened the third quarter with a S. Moore touchdown run from 21 yards out, Hampton responded as Brycen Blevins scored on a four-yard run. Brody Lambert caught the two-point conversion pass from Blevins.

Cosby countered with a 26-yard touchdown pass from S. Moore to Baker to take a 40-24 lead into the final quarter.

Tester scored on a two-yard run in the fourth quarter. However, Baker and the Eagles responded with a score to secure the win.

Jones led Hampton with 23 carries for 126 yards and added four catches for 42 yards. Blevins was 17-of-24 for 180 yards, while Rylan Jones had five catches for 40 yards.
