Once Hampton got rolling, there was no looking back.
The Bulldogs pulled away to take a 58-6 victory over Johnson County on Friday night in Mountain City. With the win, Hampton improved to 2-0 on the year.
HHS opened the scoring midway through the first as Brycen Blevins threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Anthony Orton.
Kaden Jones gave Hampton a 12-0 lead with 55 seconds remaining in the quarter as he raced 55 yards on a punt return for a score.
Hampton pushed the advantage to 20-0 with an Eli Tester touchdown. After the Longhorns got on the board on fourth-and-goal, Hampton answered as Jones broke free for a 70-yard kickoff return for a touchdown with just over three minutes left in the half, and the Bulldogs took a 34-6 lead into the locker room as Logan Hughes caught a 22-yard pass from Blevins for the score.
Tester added a 27-yard touchdown catch from Blevins and a nine-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. Hampton capped the scoring as Brody Lambert scored on a 14-yard run in the final quarter.
Blevins was 8-of-14 passing for 138 yards and three touchdowns. Hughes had three catches for 63 yards and a score, while Orton had two catches for 25 yards a touchdown.
Tester finished the game with 78 yards on eight carries with two scores, and also added two catches for 25 yards and a touchdown.
