Bulldogs Take County Region 1-2A Win Over HV

Hampton took care of business in a county rivalry Friday night.

The Bulldogs pulled away early to take a 49-0 win over Happy Valley in Region 1-2A action at JC Campbell Stadium.

With the win, Hampton, the No. 1 ranked team in Class 2A, improves to 5-0 on the year, while the Warriors fall to 1-4.

The Bulldogs took control early.

After the Bulldog defense forced a punt on the opening drive, the Bulldog offense used the legs of Levi Lunsford to take an 8-0 lead as the senior running back broke free for a 43-yard touchdown.

The Warriors looked to answer as they marched past the Hampton 20 with key plays from Joseph Sowards and Regan Ensor, but was stopped on fourth down as Hampton held an 8-0 lead after a quarter of play.

Hampton took a 16-0 lead in the second quarter as Dylan Trivett hit Chance Point for a 23-yard touchdown pass. The Warriors continued to battle but were unable to answer.

Trivett found Brody Hicks for a five-yard pass, and Chance Point caught a 34-yard pass from Trivett as Hampton took a 30-0 lead into the half.

In the third quarter, Dominique Burleson scored on a 19-yard run to increase the Hampton lead.

The Bulldogs saw Grayson Young have a 45-yard interception return for a touchdown along with a 43-yard touchdown run from Peyton Townsend in the fourth quarter to account for the final.

The Warriors will welcome Unaka to Warrior Hill for another county clash next Friday night, while the Bulldogs will have a week off before traveling to South Greene on September 30 for a crucial Region 1-2A clash.
