The Elizabethton boys basketball team dropped a tough one on Friday night.
The Cyclones fell 53-45 to Tennessee High on the first day of the Roundball Classic held at Science Hill.
Elizabethton is set to take on Meigs County on Saturday at 1:30 in the new gym at Science Hill.
On Friday, it was a battle from the opening tip.
Evan Perkins hit a pair of 3-pointers while Carter Everett hit a pair of jumpers to help EHS take a 13-9 lead in the first quarter, and the Cyclones extended the advantage to seven points at the half.
However, the Vikings battled back in the second half.
Nolan Wilson scored eight points in the third quarter as Tennessee High outscored EHS 21-9 in the frame to take a 38-33 lead into the final eight minutes. The Cyclones continued to fight, but was unable to edge back ahead in the closing minute.
Eric Wilson tallied 11 points to lead all scorers, while Nico Ashley and Perkins had nine points each. Parker Hughes and Bryson Rollins added seven points apiece, while Everett finished with six points.
Brandon Brown led Tennessee High with 10 points.
