Elizabethton fell short in extending the season on Tuesday afternoon.

The Cyclones were unable to answer a pair of three-run innings by Sullivan South as EHS fell 7-4 in the losers’ bracket finale at Joe O’Brien Field.

After South opened the scoring in the top of the first, Elizabethton countered in the home side of the inning as Jaden Anderson scored off a Bryson Rollins single to left field.

The Cyclones took the lead in the bottom of the third as Padraig Murphy hit a single to drive Anderson across the plate, and then Murphy scored off a Peyton Johnson single to give EHS a 3-1 lead heading to the fourth.

Sullivan South, however, took advantage of loading the bases to open the fourth and plated three runs in the inning to regain a 4-3 advantage.

Elizabethton was able to load the bases in the fifth inning with just one out, but the Orange and Black were unable to drive a run across the plate to tie or take the lead.

South increased the advantage in the sixth with three more runs.

The Cyclones continued to battle in the seventh as the first two batters were able to get on base and Brilee Hurley scored off a fielders choice.

The rally, however, fell short as EHS was unable to move the base runners.

Johnson led the way at the plate with two hits and two RBI, while Rollins and Murphy each added a hit and a RBI. Elijah Birdsong finished with two hits.

Cooper Tipton, Noah Rosato, and Anderson each added a hit for EHS.

On the mound, Johnson was handed the tough loss despite allowing just three earned runs on six hits.
