Elizabethton took care of business on Saturday.
The Cyclones secured a spot in the District 1-AA Championship tilt with a 71-58 victory over Sullivan East. Elizabethton will take on Sullivan South on Tuesday night for the District 1-AA crown, and will also host a Region 1-AA game on Saturday.
The Cyclones came out of the gate on a roll against the host Patriots.
EHS raced out to a 20-7 lead in the first eight minutes of the game, and then pushed the advantage to 36-14 at the half as William Willocks set the tone with 22 points in the first 16 minutes.
In the second half, the Patriots were able to make runs at the Cyclones to trim the lead to single digits. However, Elizabethton answered the bell to keep Sullivan East at bay to secure the win.
Willocks tallied 28 points in the game, while Jake Roberts scored 12 points in the game – none bigger then his 3-pointers in the second half to stop East runs.
Nico Ashley scored 10 points for the Cyclones.
