Elizabethton picked up a confidence booster on Friday night.

The Cyclones captured a 27-7 victory over Anderson County in non-conference action inside Citizens Bank Stadium.

With the win, Elizabethton moves to 4-1 on the season.

It didn’t take long for the Cyclones to get on the board as Bryson Rollins hit Jake Roberts for a 70-yard touchdown as Elizabethton took a 7-0 lead.

The Cyclone defense kept Anderson County from getting anything going offensively.

Elizabethton got back on the board in the closing seconds of the half as Rollins escaped for a 30-yard touchdown.

After the Elizabethton defense recovered a fumble on Anderson County’s next offensive play, Rollins scored on a six-yard run as Elizabethton held a 20-0 lead at the half.

The Mavs got things going in the third quarter with an impressive drive that ended when Nick Moog scored on a seven-yard run to pull AC within 13 points.

Elizabethton, however, continued to limit Anderson County offensively, and Cade Russell scored on a 36-yard run in the fourth to secure the win for the homestanding Cyclones.

Rollins ended the night with 22 carries for 165 yards and also added 113 passing yards. Russell finished with 104 rushing yards.

Roberts had 83 receiving yards.

Elizabethton is set to travel to Sullivan East next Friday night for a region clash.
