The stage is set for a No. 1-No. 2 showdown while a new Carter County team entered the TSSAA AP Prep Football poll for Oct. 14.

In Class 4A, Elizabethton remained ranked No. 2 in this week’s poll, while Greeneville held down the top spot. The two teams meet Friday night in Citizens Bank Stadium.

The Cyclones tallied four first-place votes for 166 points. The Green Devils tallied 182 points with 14 first-place votes.

Haywood County, Anderson County and Nolensville rounded out the top five.

In Class 2A, Happy Valley entered the poll at the No. 9 spot. The Warriors received 32 points in this week’s edition after receiving votes the last few weeks.

The Warriors were 30 points behind No. 8 Houston County.
Peabody was the top-ranked team in the class, while Watertown was No. 2. Trousdale County and Meigs County were tied for No. 3.

The Warriors are set to travel to Sullivan North on Friday.
