The Elizabethton softball team came up one game short of the District 1-AA title game.

The Lady Cyclones picked up a 5-2 victory over Sullivan South to advance to the losers’ bracket finale but was unable to keep the momentum going in an 8-0 loss to Unicoi County.

Against the Lady Rebels, EHS jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the third. Elizabethton was able to keep South at bay the rest of the way to advance to the next game.

The trip of Maggie Johnson, Maddie O’Quinn and Kaylen Shell had two hits apiece, while Kallista Deprimo, Marley Wagner, Haley Fair and Madisun Pritchard each had a hit.

O’Quinn had an exceptional showing in the circle as she allowed just one earned run on four hits.

Against Unicoi County, the Lady Cyclones were unable to rally back. Unicoi jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the second and then held on for the win by limiting the EHS opportunities.

Deprimo and Johnson each had a hit for Elizabethton.
