Elizabethton Drops Heartbreaker In Region 1-A Quarterfinal at South Greene

Elizabethton dropped a heartbreaker to see their season come to a close.

The Lady Cyclones came up short in a 58-49 decision to South Greene in the Region 1-AA tournament in Greeneville on Friday night.


The Lady Cyclones battled the entire game.

After SG held an 11-6 lead after a quarter of play, Elizabethton’s offense was able to get going in the second quarter.

McKendra Norris scored four points in the frame, while Torrie Roberts hit a big 3-pointer as EHS erased the early deficit.

The game went to the half tied at 22-22.

In the third quarter, the teams traded shots as neither was able to get much separation. The Lady Rebels held a slim 36-35 lead after three complete quarters.

The final quarter saw South Greene able to get a little breathing room and take advantage of trips to the free-throw line to take the win.

Morgan Headrick finished with 14 points to lead Elizabethton, while Renna Lane added 12 points. Roberts scored 10 points for the Lady Cyclones.

Jordan Roderick led South Greene with 15 points.
