The Chick-Fil-A Holiday Classic got off to a great start for host Elizabethton.

The Cyclones took a 64-55 victory over Lighthouse Christian to advance in the winner’s bracket of the tournament.
In the other game featuring a county team, Happy Valley fell 83-38 to Ridgeway.

Elizabethton held a 15-10 lead after a quarter of play but was unable to get any real separation for Lighthouse Christian as the teams swapped buckets. EHS led 30-28 at the half.

Lighthouse led going to the fourth quarter, but the teams continued to swap the lead. The Cyclones, however, answer the call on the free throw line late in the game to secure the win.

Eric Wilson led the way with 20 points, while Adam Cornett had 16 points for Elizabethton. Evan Perkins had nine points in the win.

The Cyclones will take on Ridgeway in the winners’ bracket Thursday at 8 p.m.

For the Warriors, they were unable to keep pace with a torrid offensive attack from Ridgeway.

Ridgeway jumped out to a 33-4 lead in the first quarter and held the Warriors to just 10 points in the second quarter.

Bryce Carter led HV with 12 points, while Brayden Sams had eight points. Will Tittle had six points in the game.

The Warriors are set to take on Lighthouse Christian at 5 p.m., in the losers bracket Thursday.
