Elizabethton Outlasts Daniel Boone For Homecoming Win

Elizabethton bounced back on Friday night.

The Cyclones took a thrilling 20-13 Homecoming victory over Daniel Boone inside Citizens Bank Stadium. With the win, EHS improves to 2-1 on the season.

It was a battle from the opening kickoff.

Neither team was able to break onto the scoreboard in the opening quarter.

Elizabethton struck first when Bryson Rollins scored on a two-yard run to take a 6-0 lead early in the second quarter.

The Trailblazers, however, countered with a 68-yard touchdown pass and the extra point gave DB a 7-6 lead.

The teams traded turnovers to end the half with Caleb Johnson recovering a fumble for EHS.

In the third quarter, Daniel Boone used a 64-yard run from Aiden Riner to move into scoring position with Luke Jenkins scoring on a two-yard run to give the Trailblazers a 13-6 lead.

The Cyclones, however, battled back and tied the game when Rollins hit Jake Roberts for a 25-yard touchdown. The Sean Smithdeal extra point tied the game heading to the fourth quarter.

Elizabethton took the lead in the fourth quarter when Rollins escaped for a 23-yard touchdown run.

The Cyclones defense held firm on fourth down in their own territory with just under four minutes to play to secure the win for the Black and Orange.

Rollins finished the night with 159 yards on 21 carries and added 60 yards on 5-of-10 passing. Cade Russell had a strong night as well as he tallied 100 yards on 18 carries.

Elizabethton is slated to hit the road next Friday night with a road trip to Grainger.
