The Cyclones found a groove and never looked back.

Elizabethton scored early and often as they cruised to a 49-18 victory over Unicoi County on Friday night at Citizen’s Bank Stadium.

Sophomore Corey Russell kicked started the night on a 24-yard touchdown run three minutes into the game. Jaxton Holly’s extra point gave EHS a 7-0 lead. Russell struck again a few minutes later as he dived into the end zone from a yard out to push the lead to 14-0 – which was the score at the end of the first.

Owen Nicholson scored to open the second for Unicoi County, but Carter Everett found Conner Johnson for a 49-yard touchdown to answer for EHS. Russell pushed the lead to 28-6 on a 12-yard run.

The first half’s final minute saw Everett push into the end zone on a three-yard run to give Elizabethton a 35-6 advantage at the half.

The second half saw the Cyclones maintain their advantage.

Jacob Turner added a six-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, while Jordan Bridwell caught an eight-yard pass from Everett to cap off the EHS scoring.

Russell finished with 77 yards on 10 carries, while Everett had nine carries for 53 yards. Logan Norman added 51 yards.

Through the air, Everett was 16-of-23 for 221 yards.
