Elizabethton checked another goal of the list.

The Cyclones rolled to a 50-19 victory over Northview Academy on Friday night in Kodak to clinch the Region 1-3A title for the second consecutive season.

EHS recorded a 7-0 mark in region play, and won their ninth straight game for a 9-1 record.

Sophomore Corey Russell scored the game’s opening touchdown on a short run, and Carter Everett added a touchdown to give EHS a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Russell struck again in the opening minutes of the second quarter with a five-yard scamper for the score. Everett hit Russell for a 50-yard touchdown pass as EHS increased the lead to 28-0. The Cyclones added to the lead late in the half as Jacob Turner scored on a short run and the ensuing two-point conversion gave Elizabethton a 36-0 lead.

Northview trimmed the lead to 36-6 in the closing seconds of the half.

Everett scored to open the third quarter with an eight-yard run, and Evan Sewell added the final Elizabethton touchdown. Northview had two scores in the second half, but the outcome was never in doubt.

Russell finished the game with 77 yards on the ground and 64 receiving yards.

Everett went 7-of-14 passing for 141 yards while adding 68 yards on the ground. The sophomore, however, was injured in the third quarter.

Elizabethton will open the playoffs next Friday at home against McMinn Central.
